Aliens vs Predator - Requiem (2)
If you like predators and aliens, you'll enjoy the film. It has a lot of action and some violence that doesn't pretend to be anything more then cynical. And why should it? I don't understand the complaints much about this film, the first one with Arnold had him getting punched by the predator and flown through the air? Would a futuristic cold blooded reptile ever bother to punch someone? This was never a realistic franchise. And Sigourney Weaver runs around like a female Rambo in the alien franchise . I don't see the big veer away from realism in this film as bothersome. The characters too were good, they were believable and strong. Small town kids with some cliché lives - i don't see any issue here. They acted their roles well, no over-dramitizing, a believable use of profanity. This franchise was never made for those under 10. So if you are disturbed by some of the violence, you were pretty silly to see this movie in the first place. So yeah, 7 out of 10 for giving the movie going public what it expected and not being too afraid to be violent and liberal in profanity.
National Treasure: Book of Secrets
In this follow up to the box-office hit "National Treasure," treasure hunter Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) once again sets out on an exhilarating, action-packed new global quest to unearth hidden history and treasures. When a missing page from the diary of John Wilkes Booth surfaces, Ben's great-great grandfather is suddenly implicated as a key conspirator in Abraham Lincoln's death. Determined to prove his ancestor's innocence, Ben follows an international chain of clues that takes him on a chase from Paris to London and ultimately back to America. This journey leads Ben and his crew not only to surprising revelations – but to the trail of the world's most treasured secrets. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Jon Turteltaub and directed by Turteltaub, the story reunites the original cast including Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha and Academy Award ®-winner Jon Voight, joined this time by four-time Academy Award®-nominee Ed Harris, Academy Award®-nominee Harvey Keitel, and 2006 Academy Award®-winner Helen Mirren.
Michael Clayton
Middle-aged lawyer Michael Clayton (George Clooney) is a "fixer" who clears up complex or dirty cases on behalf of corporate clients. But he has a number of personal and professional problems. His family life is messy; he's a lone parent, his brother has run up large debts, he's struggling with a gambling problem, his career appears to be going no-where - and he has become tired of fixing other people's mistakes. An old friend and colleague, Arthur Edens (Tom Wilkinson), has been working on an important case on behalf of a large client for eight years but the case is not going well and his friend's behavior is causing concern. Clayton is called in to fix the problem. As he discovers more about the case, Clayton realizes that the plaintiffs' case is correct and when Edens dies, Clayton himself becomes a target for the dark forces that defend corporate interests. Clayton narrowly survives an assassination attempt (when his car is blown up) and confronts one of the company directors, Karen Crowder (Tilda Swinton), with evidence of corporate malfeasance. She offers to buy his silence but he is recording the conversation and she is arrested.
